QCQ 2 – Bernstein/Dunlevie/Kleon

Quotation (with page number or parag number or time stamp if video/audio)

“Do let your work on the Living Web flow from your passion and your play, your work life and your life at home.” Page 5, Paragraph 6.

Comment (250-500 words)

This quote stuck out to me because it encourages the reader to do something that many frown upon- bring their personal life into their work. Many people who give advice on how to be more successful and productive is to keep work at work and keep home at home. But this quote tells bloggers to do the opposite. Bernstein emboldens writers on the internet to let how they feel at home influence their posts, because they will feel more passionate about what they are writing about. Although this is true, it could also affect the quality of the blog if writers experience extreme emotion. All in all, I think this is fine because while blogging is writing, it is much less formal than articles, novels, and other forms of published writing. Because of this, emotions are likely to improve a blog readers experience rather than diminish it.

Question

Is it healthy to let work affect one’s home life and vice versa?
